Meet Three New Extreme Reach Leaders

By Sandy Drayton  |

We are over the moon about this exciting new chapter for ER as we come together with Adstream and bring our combined solutions to marketers worldwide. Upon close of the deal, 400 “Adstreamers” will become part of what we fondly call ER Nation. Meet three London-based execs who will take on leadership roles in the expanded company.

Daniel Mark

CEO at Adstream and newly named Chief Strategy Officer, ER + Adstream

Daniel has a proven executive management track record, with over 20 years of experience in the media and technology industry. Before taking on the CEO position, Daniel was CFO at Adstream for 9 years, where he was responsible for the overall financial strategy. During this period the business raised over $100M of capital, funding the expansion from a start-up into what is now a business with offices across all continents of the globe. Prior to joining Adstream, Daniel was at Sony Music, where he helped to redefine the physical business model to incorporate new revenue streams such as digital and live performance.

What excites you about coming together with ER?
DM: From the outset I built an instant rapport with Tim [Conley] and the leadership team, and I’m excited to meet the rest of the ER Nation very soon! The prospect of combining video ad serving and talent & rights management with our global delivery and asset management platform is also incredibly exciting. I am certain it will be a game changer.

What’s your life like outside of work?
DM: I live in London with my wife Claudine, our two teenage daughters Talia and Jessica, and our dog Riley. Life in lock down over the last 12 months has been challenging, although we have certainly bonded as a family, doing the simple things such as going for walks through the countryside and going on bike rides.

What do you do to get away from it all?
DM: I enjoy playing sport although I have recently hung up my football boots (or soccer boots to our US colleagues) and exchanged them for a set of golf clubs. I am also a lifelong Newcastle United fan. For those of you who haven’t heard of my football team, the following quote, “the natural state of a football fan is bitter disappointment” best sums up my experience supporting them!

Katie Nykanen

CTO at Adstream and newly named Chief Product Officer, ER + Adstream

Katie has been with Adstream for nine years, leading the team through a significant digital transformation — optimising Cloud, Devops Practices, CI:CD and the latest Tech. She is passionate about getting the best from people and technology to produce products which deliver real value to clients.

Prior to joining Adstream, Katie was responsible for Marketing Technology at Nokia where she developed a deep understanding of advertising, brand, campaign management and the challenges facing marketing execs in ensuring efficient use of their investment.

Katie is the 2019 winner of Women in IT’s CTO of the Year award and has spoken at a number of Technology events in the UK about digital transformation, the flexible workforce and the company’s partnership with AWS.

What excites you about coming together with ER?
KN: I am looking forward to taking our two product portfolios and working out how to bring them together to create the best possible experience for our clients across the world.

What’s your life like outside of work?
KN: I have 4 young children so my life out of work is a lot of ferrying children to and from various clubs and teams and we are very social and love to go out or have friends round to our house. Normally I would say we travel a lot but clearly the last year we haven’t been able to do any of that and we can’t wait to get back to trips to airports as soon as it is safe!

What do you do to get away from it all?
KN: I love to exercise and go running and also love to cook so at least lockdown provided plenty of time for both of those interests!

Tim Emly

CFO at Adstream and newly named SVP of Finance, ER + Adstream

Tim has worked with Adstream for over 10 years, initially as Group Financial Controller before being promoted to CFO in 2017.  Tim is responsible for supporting the geographical growth of the Group both organically and through the Group’s acquisitions.

Prior to Adstream, Tim was an Audit Manager at BDO where he was responsible for both listed and privately owned companies across the TMT, manufacturing, retail and recruitment sectors.  Whilst at BDO, Tim spent time in Corporate Finance and was seconded to their Sydney office for 16 months. Tim is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

What excites you about coming together with ER?
TE: The opportunities for our customers, for our markets and for our people. The acquisition will enable the enlarged business to deliver a digital solution along with talent and rights management to our customers across the globe at speed, and enable our customers to benefit from a comprehensive full service offering along with the data and transparency that we will be able to provide them.

On a personal level, I am looking forward to working with the finance team at ER, helping our Heads of Business to continue to grow their markets and being part of a bigger and stronger business.

What’s your life like outside of work?
TE: Outside of the office, I spend most of my time chasing after three boys and new puppy.

What do you do to get away from it all?
TE: When I have the opportunity, I try and sneak in a long, long bike ride (quite possibly stopping for refreshment at a couple of pubs along the way).
